چکیده

A color visual difference model (CVDM) was developed to predict the image quality difference of two images. The model is an extension of the two previously published models: The monochromatic Visible Difference Predictor (VDP) by Scott Daly and the color Spatial-CIELAB (SCIELAB) model by Zhang et al. The CVDM consists of color space conversion, modulation by contrast sensitivity functions, visual masking effect, multiresolution detection mechanisms, and visible color difference calculation. Inputs to the model are a reference image and a processed image, as well as calibration parameters such as viewing distance, resolution of the images, and white point. The output of the model is a CIELAB ∆E map, on which the bright colors represent large ∆E values, and the dark colors represent small visible ∆E values. The model was applied to detect the visibility of blur, noise, grating, and compression artifacts. The results show a better agreement with visual impression than does the S-CIELAB model.

Halftone Quality Evaluation Using Color Visual Models

We conducted a monitor-based subjective study on multilevel halftone. Observers in a halftone preference experiment selected stimuli in a paired comparison design. Images were halftoned using multilevel stochastic screening and multilevel error diffusion. Stimuli were presented on a calibrated monitor from distances equivalent to viewing 300 and 600 dpi prints. We applied Thurstone's law of com...

Automatic JPEG Compression Using a Color Visual Model

JPEG compression is extensively used in digital cameras, internet, and image databases. The amount of compression can be adjusted by scaling the quantization table or Qtable. In many cases, an iterative process is used to achieve optimum compression having a smaller file size, but still visually lossless at the intended display and viewing distance. This process is very time consuming for large...

Graph-based Visual Saliency Model using Background Color

Visual saliency is a cognitive psychology concept that makes some stimuli of a scene stand out relative to their neighbors and attract our attention. Computing visual saliency is a topic of recent interest. Here, we propose a graph-based method for saliency detection, which contains three stages: pre-processing, initial saliency detection and final saliency detection. The initial saliency map i...

Predicting Cut Rose Stages of Development and Leaf Color Variations by Means of Image Analysis Technique

The monitor and prediction of crop developmental stages, particularly harvest time, play an important role in planning greenhouse cropping programs and timetables by cut rose producers. There have been many scientific reports on the application of image analysis technology in estimating greenhouse crop growth stages. In the present research, we studied leaf color variations over time by taking ...

A Saliency Detection Model via Fusing Extracted Low-level and High-level Features from an Image

Saliency regions attract more human’s attention than other regions in an image. Low- level and high-level features are utilized in saliency region detection. Low-level features contain primitive information such as color or texture while high-level features usually consider visual systems. Recently, some salient region detection methods have been proposed based on only low-level features or hig...
